It is a very warm and muggy start to Wednesday across many parts of Britain and Ireland with temperatures towards the south and southeast having dropped no lower than 23°C in places overnight. Thunderstorms are currently pushing northwards across northern parts of Britain but these will clear away today with drier conditions following.
It’s a misty and murky start in many areas, especially where storms have moved through overnight, but skies will brighten up as we go through the day with the cloud breaking up so that by this afternoon many areas are fine with spells of sunshine. Some mist and murk may linger around some coasts and out towards the west, but once the thunderstorms over northern and eastern England along with parts of Scotland have cleared then most places will end up dry. It will be another hot day towards the southeast of England and East Anglia with temperatures rising into the low-mid thirties in the sunnier spots, but values elsewhere will tend to be a touch lower than yesterday due to the cloudier start.
A fine evening and night follows for most places with some mist and fog forming in places by the morning. It will be another very warm night with temperatures falling no lower than the high teens for most, and remaining in the low twenties towards the south and east. Later in the night more breeze and some rain may move into western Ireland thanks to a cold front moving in and this edges a little further eastwards tomorrow. For most places though Thursday will be a fine and hot day with the potential for record breaking temperatures developing in places, depending on cloud cover amounts. Further thunderstorms may then break out by the evening as a cold front moves in from the west, but there remains some uncertainty over timings.
