Happy Halloween everyone - have fun and stay safe! The area of high pressure that has given many areas a drier period of weather this week, with the exception of the far south and southwest, is now giving way to deepening areas of low pressure heading our way in the coming days bringing wet and windy weather to many areas interspersed by clearer and more showery conditions in-between systems.
This morning starts off on a fairly similar note to recent mornings with northern regions seeing a bright but frosty start to the day whilst the further south you come the cloudier, breezier and less cold that it is. Outbreaks of rain, locally quite heavy, are affecting parts of southern England with some lighter bursts of rain and drizzle affecting other southwestern regions along with southern parts of Ireland. Little change is expected again in these areas today although the heavier rain in the south will tend to ease before a band of persistent rain moves into Ireland later this afternoon. Meanwhile, further to the north and east it will be another mainly dry day with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud, but the odd shower may affect the far northeast. Top temperatures will be similar to those of recent days with the highest figures of 13°C or 14°C to be found across the far southwest.
If you are off out Trick or Treatin' this evening for Halloween then the good news is that most places will be dry, however, it will be turning increasingly wet across Ireland with the rain then continuing to push east overnight, reaching all but the far east and northeast by the end of the night. This rain will continue on its journey north and eastwards tomorrow, clearing all but the far northeast by the end of the day. Clearer spells will follow on behind although scattered showers will then break out, turning heavy and blustery, but temperatures will be a touch milder for many.
