Very little change in the general synoptic pattern today with a slack area of low pressure continuing to reside close to the southwest of the country. This means a couple of things. Firstly, onshore winds will continue to bring dull and cool conditions to north-eastern coasts. Secondly, scattered thundery showers will once again break out in places as we head on through the day.
For eastern coasts from Norfolk northwards it is a rather dull and misty start to Sunday with low cloud having pushed in off the North Sea overnight. This misty low cloud will burn back towards the coast today, but for north-eastern coasts it will be another chilly and overcast day with temperatures struggling to make the low teens. Elsewhere and there will be plenty of warm sunny spells around again today with many places staying dry and temperatures climbing up into the low twenties quite widely. However, there are some showery outbreaks of rain affecting some western and south-western regions this morning and as we go through the day further scattered showers will break out across the south and west, turning locally heavy and thundery with a risk of hail, especially across parts of Ireland where some torrential downpours are possible. A few scattered heavy showers may also break out over higher ground further north, but these will be more isolated.
Any evening showers and thunderstorms will slowly die out with many places seeing a dry night although a few showers may continue in the far south and west. Low cloud and mist will become more extensive along eastern and north-eastern coasts, spreading further inland again making for another dull start tomorrow here. Again this low cloud will be reluctant to clear coastal regions but for many places Monday will be another day with warm sunny spells before scattered heavy and thundery downpours break out during the afternoon and evening.
