A midweek scorcher for many parts of England and Wales with temperatures today soaring into the low-thirties across inland regions as some very warm air is drawn in from the near continent. The heat continues for a couple more days, but by the weekend a change to cooler and fresher conditions is expected to take place from the west when the cooler and cloudier conditions that will never really leave the far northwest return eastwards.
It's a fine and warm start to Wednesday and for just about all parts of England and Wales it will be a day of unbroken sunshine and rising temperatures with maximums this afternoon in the range of 30°C to 33°C. It will be cooler towards coastal regions as sea breezes develop, and it will also be cooler towards many parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland where there continues to be a lot of cloud around this morning. This cloud is still bringing occasional outbreaks of rain and drizzle but this will tend to die out during the course of the day with the cloud starting to break up by this afternoon as it drifts north-westwards. Temperatures here won't be as high with maximums nearer 16°C to 19°C, but where any sunny spells break through those values will soon rise into the low-twenties.
A rather warm night follows with temperatures in parts of the south and southeast remaining above 20°C for much of the night. Most places will be fine and clear with the cloud in the northwest continuing to drift away. This takes us into another hot day tomorrow with temperatures again into the low-thirties across inland regions of England. There will be a lot of strong, hot June sunshine along with high or very high UV and pollen levels whilst the only exception once again comes across the far northwest where it will be cloudier and cooler with a little drizzle at times.
