Low pressure is still the main feature of the weather across the UK and Ireland as we head into Easter Saturday but it is starting to drift a little further west which means the main areas of instability will also edge westwards. Therefore we are expecting fewer and lighter showers for today with many southern and eastern regions enjoying a dry day.
It's a bright and chilly start for many regions with showers largely affecting northern and western regions and this pretty much sets the scene for today with many parts of England and Wales enjoying a mostly dry and bright day as only a few well-scattered showers break out. There may be more cloud for a time across the far southeast of England and East Anglia bringing a little rain, but most of any rain will remain offshore to the east.
Meanwhile, for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland there will also be some sunny spells around but also more in the way of showers and again some of the showers will be heavy with a risk of hail and thunder in places.
Temperatures today will reach double figures in most regions, ranging from 11°C or 12°C in the north and west to highs of 14°C or 15°C across the brighter parts of central, eastern and south-eastern England where it will feel pleasant in the strengthening sunshine.
Showers will tend to ease this evening with many places becoming dry overnight but showery outbreaks of rain will affect parts of the southwest of the UK and Ireland as south-easterly winds pick up here. These winds freshen up in other southern counties tomorrow, bringing an increasing chance of some rain later in the day but for many places Easter Day is looking mainly dry and bright with variable cloud amounts.
