More of a north / south split in the weather will be evident today as a frontal system brings cloudier skies and some rain to the north whilst to the south it will be dry, sunny and increasingly warm. That frontal system will slowly sink southwards tomorrow to introduce a somewhat cooler and fresher air mass in time for the weekend.
Starting with Scotland and here there will be a lot of cloud around today with this cloud extending into parts of Northern Ireland and northern England. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle are affecting parts of the north and west and will tend to spread further south and east at times today although the heaviest and most persistent of the rain will tend to remain across the far northwest. Maximum temperatures in these areas will range from 14°C to 17°C and it will feel cooler in the wetter areas where there will also be a brisk westerly breeze blowing. Meanwhile, for many parts of Ireland, England and Wales it will be a mostly fine day with plenty of sunshine around although the sunshine will turn hazy at times. This won't be enough to stop temperatures climbing to maximums of 22°C to 26°C with high UV and pollen levels.
It remains cloudy with some rain and drizzle at times across the north and northwest of Scotland tonight, with some cloud and drizzle also affecting parts of Northern Ireland, north-western parts of the Republic of Ireland and into northwest England. Further to the south and east it will be dry with some clear spells but it won't be a cold night anywhere. Friday sees cooler and cloudier conditions starting to sink south with more rain affecting the north, but southern regions will see another fine and rather warm day before the cloud moves south overnight to bring a fresher feel for the weekend.
