It's an unsettled start to Tuesday across many parts of Britain and Ireland thanks to low pressure tracking north-eastwards across England, this low pulling out over the North Sea as we go through the day allowing for conditions to slowly improve from the west.
For this morning we have strong to gale force winds affecting many southern and western coastal regions while outbreaks of heavy rain and mountain snow are affecting many parts of Scotland, parts of northern and western England along with Wales. It is somewhat drier and brighter elsewhere, but showers are being blown through on the wind.
Today sees a gradual improvement as the rain continues to edge north and eastwards, eventually becoming confined to the far northeast of the UK including the Northern Isles. This will allow many regions to turn drier and brighter as we go through the day although there will still be a good scattering of showers around and some of these could be on the heavy and blustery side.
It will remain windy in many areas although the strongest winds across southern and western coastal districts this morning will ease a touch as we go through the day but those winds will certainly make top temperatures of 9°C to 13°C feel cooler, especially with those values generally lower than they have been over the last couple of days.
Winds and showers will ease this evening with many places turning dry, clear and chilly for a time tonight with temperatures dropping low enough for a touch of frost in places. However, later in the night thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of rain back into the west as the next frontal system arrives and this rain will continue to push eastwards tomorrow, the heaviest and most persistent rain towards the north and northwest.
